Sen. Seal announces more than $1.77 million in volunteer fire and rescue grants for Senate District 8

(NASHVILLE) – Today, Senator Jessie Seal (R-New Tazewell) announced Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad Grants across Senate District 8 will receive more than $1.77 million in state grant funding through the Department of Commerce and Insurance to strengthen emergency response capabilities and improve public safety.

"Volunteer firefighters and rescue squads are often the first to answer the call when Tennesseans need help most," said Seal. "These grants provide critical resources to support the brave men and women who dedicate their time to protecting our communities. I appreciate the state's continued investment in public safety and the invaluable service these departments provide every day."

Grant recipients in Senate District 8 include:

  • North Claiborne County Volunteer Fire Department – $56,730

  • North Tazewell Volunteer Fire Department – $54,488

  • South Claiborne Volunteer Fire Department – $47,200

  • Springdale Volunteer Fire Department – $9,570

  • Tazewell/New Tazewell Fire Department – $50,452

  • Cumberland Gap Volunteer Fire Department – $47,200

  • Bean Station Volunteer Fire Department – $54,929.60

  • Thorn Hill Volunteer Fire Department – $50,174

The funding, awarded through the Volunteer Firefighter and Rescue Squad Grant Program, will help departments purchase equipment, enhance emergency response operations and better serve their local communities.

The Volunteer Firefighter and Rescue Squad Grant Program provides funding to assist Tennessee's volunteer fire departments and rescue squads with purchasing equipment, improving operations and enhancing emergency response services across the state.
